Car aircon repair near you: how to pick the shop, and the part we bring to your address

Car aircon repair is done at a shop. Refrigerant, the compressor, the condenser and the wiring all need gauges, a vacuum pump and a leak detector, and the car goes to them. What a good shop near you looks like, and what it should check before it quotes, is below.

To be plain about it: AutoAgapay does no aircon repair. We are a car wash and detailing crew working in Pampanga, Bulacan, Bataan, Tarlac and Olongapo, and in Pasig, Cainta, Taytay, Antipolo and Marikina east of Manila. The part of an aircon problem we do is the cabin: the vents, the dashboard, the carpets and the musty smell, cleaned where the car is parked. How the system works part by part is on car aircon.

Is it a repair, or a clean?

Start with what the car is doing. Half of these are a shop, and some are a filter you can change yourself before paying anyone.

The fan blows but the air is warm
A shop with gauges. Refrigerant, compressor, condenser fan or wiring.
Cold on the highway, warm in traffic
Usually the condenser fan or a condenser packed with dirt. A shop, after you have looked behind the grille yourself.
The air is cold but weak
The cabin filter first, which you can change yourself. If a new filter does not fix it, the blower, which is a shop.
A musty smell when the aircon starts
The evaporator, which a shop cleans through the drain or the blower housing, and the cabin, which we clean.
Dust or a stale smell from the vents
The filter, then the vents, ducts and cabin. That is our interior detail.
Water on the passenger side floor
A blocked evaporator drain, a shop job. Wet carpet left for days goes mouldy, and drying and shampooing it is ours.
Hissing, grinding or a loud click
A shop, soon. A noisy compressor is cheaper to look at before it seizes.

The causes of warm air in the order to check them, with the five minute checks first, are on car aircon not cooling.

How to find a car aircon shop near you

  1. 1. Search for car aircon with the name of your town or barangay. Near me works from your phone at home, but from the office it finds shops near the office, and the car may be parked somewhere else.
  2. 2. Look for a shop that does aircon as its main work. A general mechanic can change a belt or a fuse; a leak, a compressor or an evaporator is better with a shop that has the machines for it.
  3. 3. Check the photos of the bay for gauges, a recovery and recharge machine and a vacuum pump. A shop with none of them can add gas but cannot find the leak.
  4. 4. Read the reviews for the words that matter: leak test, vacuum, pressure, and what happened a month later. A review written on the day the car came back cold says little about a leak.
  5. 5. Ask whether they service the refrigerant your car takes. The label under the hood says R-134a or R-1234yf, and the two are not mixed.

What a good shop checks before it quotes

  • A look at the condenser, the belt, the fan and the fittings, with the engine running and the aircon on.
  • Pressure readings on the high side and the low side, with the reading explained to you for your car.
  • A leak test before any recharge, with dye, an electronic detector or a pressure test. A recharge without one leaks out again.
  • A written scope before work starts: which parts, whether the drier is replaced, whether the system is flushed, and what oil goes back in.
  • After a repair that opens the system, a vacuum held for a while before the refrigerant goes in, so any moisture and any leak show up first.

Be wary of a quote given before anyone has measured anything, and of a recharge can from the hardware store. A can adds gas to a leak and hides the reading the shop needs.

Where we do the cabin side

The crew drives to these ten areas. Each one has its own page with the towns or barangays it covers and how booking works there. The repair is still a shop job wherever you are; the cabin clean comes to your address.

Somewhere else, or just over a boundary? See every area we cover, or send the form anyway and we will say whether we can reach you.

The order that works: the shop first, then the cabin

If the car needs both, fix the cold first. A leak repair or an evaporator clean can mean the dashboard or the glovebox coming apart, and a cabin cleaned before that gets handled again. Once the air is cold and the filter is new, a cabin clean takes out what the old air left behind: dust in the vents, the smell in the seats and carpets, and the film on the inside of the windshield.

If the car has been through floodwater, the order changes and the cabin is a bigger job. That is on flooded car: what to do. Where a smell comes from, and which smells mean a mechanic, is on car smells and stains.

Book the cabin clean at your address

Put the town and the car in the form, say that the smell comes on with the aircon, and say whether the aircon has been repaired recently. We confirm the slot and the travel fee, and the crew arrives with everything it needs for the interior detail.
